Typically, your first dental implant appointment at Newport Dental Centre will be a consultation. We will determine if you are a good candidate and discuss the best options for your unique needs. This is a great opportunity for you to ask questions and raise concerns.
Next, we will take X-rays of your mouth and make impressions of your teeth. After we take your impression, we will curate a specialised treatment plan that works best for you.
After any minor operations, you might have bruising, soreness and swelling of the gingiva around the tooth. This usually goes away within a few days. You may also have some blood-tinged saliva. Your dentist will give instructions on what to do and how often to brush and floss. If you have several implants done, it may take longer for the gum tissue to heal and form a strong bond with the implant. This is normal. You’ll also need to avoid eating hard food such as nuts and popcorn.
You will probably be advised to have your natural teeth cleaned regularly because they act like tiny drills while cleaning the area around the implants.
